Europe-based hospitality real estate developer and investor, Omnam Group, announces the opening of The Lake Como EDITION; a highly anticipated luxury hotel property set on the western shores of Lake Como, Italy. Acquired in late 2021, by Bain Capital and Omnam under a fund managed by Kryalos SGR and operating under Marriott International’s EDITION Hotels brand, the hotel represents a carefully executed redevelopment of the historic Hotel Britannia Excelsior. The project reflects Omnam’s distinctive approach to value creation: identifying architecturally significant assets in prime destinations and transforming them into globally relevant hospitality experiences through strategic brand partnerships, meticulous design, and disciplined project execution.

Under the leadership of Italy Country Manager Yaniv Medalsy, Project Manager Shay Zabari, and Omnam’s global team, redevelopment began in April 2022 with the goal of creating a property that seamlessly balances the palazzo’s 19th-century heritage with contemporary luxury. Key interventions included preserving most of the historic façade, while introducing an all-new drop-off area for arrivals, reducing the number of rooms to enlarge accommodations, and adding a terrace restaurant, Renzo, serving all-day dining in a space that offers panoramic lake views.
The development brings together an international roster of collaborators, including architecture and interiors by Neri&Hu and De.Tales, a signature culinary concept by Michelin-starred chef Mauro Colagreco, wellness programming by The Longevity Suite, and art curated by Visto alongside Omnam’s in-house project leadership, design, and operational team, and supported by Bain Capital asset management team. Together, these partners have created a destination where contemporary elegance meets the timeless natural beauty of Lake Como.
Seeking to bring a fresh perspective to one of Europe’s most traditional design destinations, the interiors and architectural direction of The Lake Como EDITION strike a refined balance between modern conceptual ideas and a deep respect for the building’s 19th-century heritage. The design seamlessly integrates contemporary forms with the local design heritage, connecting the property to its lakeside setting while maximising natural light, views, and spatial proportion throughout.
The hotel features 148 rooms and suites across seven room types, including rooms in Villa Gina, four dining venues, a destination spa and fitness centre, and Lake Como’s largest floating pool. Rooms are fitted with custom walnut furniture, Neri&Hu sofas, hand-tufted rugs, and Calacatta Gold stone in bathrooms, and many offer lake views or restored French balconies. The materials throughout the property were carefully curated by the teams including marble from MGS, ceramics from Marazzi, millwork by Extra Ordinario, Pianca, and SkillMax, textiles by Kvadrat, Jaipur, and Class Design, and fixtures from Axor and Laufen. Lighting combines custom pieces from MIIC, Flos, and Artemide, while furnishings by Cassina, Vitra, Zanotta, B&B Italia, Molteni, and Thonet complement bespoke outdoor seating from Talenti and TRIBU, creating a cohesive, sophisticated environment across interiors and outdoor spaces.
The floating pool serves as a social hub for hotel guests, with a pool bar, lounge, and private dock access for boating excursions, further integrating the building, water, and surrounding landscape. Later this summer, Omnam’s newest venture, Omnam Design Studio (ODS) will open The Lido, a second pool and lido space complete with bar and restaurant, designed as a destination for both hotel guests and the public.
The Lake Como EDITION offers four distinct dining destinations, some of which will be available exclusively for guests of the hotel, and others open to the general public, reflecting Omnam’s approach to design-led, community-oriented hospitality. Cetino, Chef Mauro Colagreco’s first restaurant in Italy, serves inventive dishes inspired by lake, sea, and land, including Rosa di Branzino with daikon and citrus, Ravioli di Trota with smoked goat cheese cream, Salt-Crusted Catch of the Day, and Lamb Roll with salsa verde. At Renzo, a stunning pergola-shaded terrace framed by Mediterranean herbs, citrus trees, and panoramic lake views, guests will savor their breakfast and later in the day a menu of contemporary Italian dishes. The Pool Bar will offer casual poolside Mediterranean-inspired meals, including crispy octopus tacos, fish burgers, and bright, satisfying tramezzini. The Lobby Bar serves refined cocktails and light bites under five-metre vaulted ceilings and celadon marble elegance. Together, the four venues combine exceptional design, world-class cuisine, and immersive lakefront experiences, creating a signature gastronomic program at the heart of the hotel.
