Northern Lights to Illuminate Printworks’ Digital Ceiling for Neurodiversity Celebration Week

March 13, 2026

Printworks Manchester is marking this year’s Neurodiversity Celebration Week (16–20 March) with a series of new operational initiatives designed for a more inclusive and sensory-friendly environment.

Approximately 15-20% of the population has a neurological difference*, highlighting the importance of celebrating, raising awareness and accommodating neurodiverse people.

Printworks is home to 14 bars, restaurants and leisure activities including one of the largest IMAX screens in Europe. Tenants include Big Licks, Boom Battle Bar, Chiquito, Dave’s Hot Chicken, Nando’s, Nuffield Health, O’Neill’s, Tank & Paddle, Tenpin, Treetop Adventure Golf, Vue, Wagamama, Wetherspoon, and Walkabout.

Throughout the week, Printworks will be transforming Europe’s largest digital ceiling with calming Northern Lights and constellations. The visuals have been specifically designed to create a relaxed, sensory-friendly atmosphere for families and visitors with additional sensory needs.

As part of a long-term commitment to accessibility and inclusivity, Printworks is also introducing a weekly sensory-friendly hour every Sunday. During the recuring weekly sensory hour, lighting throughout the venue will be dimmed and music and SFX volumes reduced for a reduced-stimulus environment.

To further support visitors, Printworks is offering 200 free sensory packs for which can be collected at Vue cinema. Each pack will include a pair of ear defenders and sensory-friendly toys. The packs are designed to support visitors who may benefit from sensory tools while enjoying the venue.

The entertainment venue’s new initiative will complement autism-friendly screenings hosted by Vue Cinemas at the venue, which take place on the last Sunday of every month at 10:30am. An additional autism-friendly screening will be taking place with a showing of “Hoppers” on Sunday 22 March at 10:30am in Screen 7, with tickets now available from Vue’s website.

Dan Davis, General Manager at Printworks said: “Neurodiversity Celebration Week is an important time for brands and venues to recognise and support the diverse ways visitors and audiences experience the world. We endeavour to ensure that all visitors feel comfortable and welcome when spending time at Printworks.”
