Factory Floor to Officially Open as Historic Wigan Mill Is Transformed

March 18, 2026

The Heaton Group will officially open Factory Floor, a brand-new competitive socialising and late-night venue located inside the historic Eckersley Mill at Cotton Works in Wigan, on Thursday 26 March.

Following a £3 million investment, the opening marks the transformation of part of the Grade II listed mill into a large-scale social playground featuring interactive games, immersive industrial design, street food and a central feature bar, creating a vibrant new day-to-night destination in the heart of the town.

Dating back to 1884, Mill One at Eckersley Mill was the first mill built on the historic Eckersley site, once one of the largest cotton mills in the region.

Open to the public from 5pm on Thursday 26th March onwards, Factory Floor accommodates around 350 guests and offers seven interactive games including darts, shuffleboard, pool, karaoke, skee ball, basketball and beer pong, alongside retro arcade machines for an added nostalgic twist.

The venue will be open every Thursday from 5-10pm, Fridays from 3pm-1am, Saturdays from 11am-1am and Sundays 11am-8pm.

At the heart of the venue sits a striking feature bar, surrounded by flexible social spaces designed to shift from daytime play to a high-energy evening atmosphere. Guests can also enjoy food from the team behind Super Fry Guys at Factory Floor’s sister venue Feast At The Mills, who have introduced their new concept ‘Feed’.

Stand out menu items include juicy stacked burgers, BBQ wings, crispy cornflake chicken tenders and Detroit city pizza served in slabs or smaller slices so there’s something for every appetite!

Vegetarian and vegan options include nachos, mozzarella dippers, a plant based burger and pizza options as well as fries and garlic focaccia.

As the evening unfolds, Factory Floor evolves into a lively party destination with DJs, dancers, disco lighting and immersive production, delivering a late-night experience unlike any other concept currently in Wigan.

Each week, on Friday and Saturday nights, Factory Floor will play host to DJs spinning retro disco and dance tracks from 9pm-1am, complete with dancers who will entertain guests with their high energy performances.

An exciting themed events schedule will be released over the coming weeks for 2026 including Gatsby evenings, Abba parties and DJ takeovers.

The opening marks another milestone for The Cotton Works, which continues to grow as a destination for hospitality, culture and community in Wigan. Factory Floor has created 20 new jobs, bringing The Heaton Group’s hospitality team across the site to around 60 employees.

The venue joins an expanding line-up of independent brands already operating within the development, including popular pub The Three Mills, outdoor food and drink market Feast at The Mills, and creative workspace Weave Co-Working, which opened in summer 2025.

John Heaton, Managing Director of The Heaton Group, said: “Factory Floor is all about bringing people together for shared experiences in a space that feels exciting while still respecting the incredible history of Eckersley Mill.

“We’ve transformed part of this historic building into somewhere people can play, eat, drink and celebrate under one roof. Seeing it now open and full of life again is incredibly rewarding.

“The Cotton Works is continuing to grow as a destination, and Factory Floor adds another exciting layer to that, creating a venue that will bring energy to the site both during the day and late into the evening.”
