SCOTCH Whisky Bar at The Balmoral introduces The 1945 Glen Grant Experience, an extraordinary £60,000 offering that includes both the acquisition of a bespoke 1945 Glen Grant Scotch whisky from Gordon & MacPhail, and an exclusive, fully curated experience to accompany it. Created by SCOTCH Whisky Bar, this world-exclusive experience offers collectors and connoisseurs the rare opportunity to secure the one-of-one 1945 Glen Grant, distilled at the close of wartime Britain, making it one of the oldest and rarest Scotch whiskies in existence, while enjoying a bespoke experience designed to honour its remarkable provenance.

The journey unfolds through a series of rare-access moments across Scotland, beginning with a behind-the-scenes visit to Gordon & MacPhail’s headquarters for a private tour and bespoke tasting. This is followed by an exclusive-use overnight stay at Rothes Glen House, complete with private dining and chauffeured travel through Speyside.
The experience continues with a private visit to the Johnstons of Elgin mill, offering insight into Scotland’s textile heritage, before returning to Edinburgh for two nights in The Balmoral’s Scone & Crombie Suite. Guests will enjoy a fine-dining meal at the hotel’s 4 AA Rosette restaurant, Number One, a personal wine tasting hosted by the Head Sommelier in the Number One wine cellar, and a whisky tasting led by SCOTCH’s Whisky Ambassadors.
The journey concludes with a choice of signature ‘Suites & Beyond’ moments at The Balmoral, such as a bespoke session with the hotel’s Poet in Residence or Scent Butler, or one’s very own bagpipe lesson, with every element individually curated to offer a deeply personal exploration of Scotland’s whisky, culture and craftsmanship.
Bar Manager Ross Barr comments: “This experience represents the pinnacle of what SCOTCH and SCOTCH Club provide. Anchored by the acquisition of one of the world’s rarest whiskies, it grants unparalleled access to cultural heritage, master custodians and exceptional hospitality across Scotland; culminating in a refined legacy-defining journey we are proud to represent.”
