The Kitchen Porters Club is delighted to recognise Krzysztof as Kitchen Porter of the Month for February.
Krzysztof was nominated by Dale Bryan, Deputy General Manager at Aramark, University of Derby.
Krzysztof joined the team two years ago through the DFN Project Search internship programme. At the time, he faced significant barriers, including severe learning difficulties, autism, and limited English as a Polish speaker.
What followed was not a moment, but a sustained demonstration of commitment, reliability, and growth. By the end of the programme, Krzysztof had made such a strong impression that he was offered a permanent role as a kitchen porter, working 30 hours per week at the University of Derby.
Reflecting on the nomination, Dale Bryan said: “Krzysztof came to us two years ago on a supported internship through DFN Project Search. He has severe learning difficulties, autism and hardly spoke any English as Krzysztof is Polish. Once the programme finished, Krzysztof impressed us so much we offered him a permanent role as a kitchen porter working 30 hours per week. The change in Krzysztof is unbelievable, he has improved and grown in the role so much.”
The Kitchen Porters Club exists to shine a light on individuals whose contribution is often overlooked, but whose presence is fundamental to the success of hospitality operations. Krzysztof’s journey reflects the value of recognising potential, creating opportunity, and acknowledging excellence where it is earned.
Paul Anderson, Managing Director, Meiko UK and Chair at The Kitchen Porters Club set out why Krzysztof was selected saying: “This month was challenging to select the winner but in many ways Dales’ nomination stood out, as did Krzysztof’s merit. The role of a Kitchen Porter is demanding and takes incredible skill to deliver on consistently. It is clear from Dales’ entry that Krzysztof has mastered the art of being a Kitchen Porter at Aramark, and for that we applaud his endeavour and talent.”
Congratulations to Krzysztof, a deserved recognition.
