The Turin-based brand’s first Social Coffee shops open in Clapham Junction and Beckenham: a new chapter in international expansion that brings Italian coffee excellence and a model of contemporary hospitality to the United Kingdom.

Costadoro, the historic Turin-based coffee roaster founded in 1890 and now a benchmark in the high-end coffee segment, takes a new step in its international growth strategy with the opening of its first two stores in the United Kingdom. This project strengthens the brand’s positioning abroad and confirms its desire to bring not only the excellence of Italian coffee across the border, but also a model of hospitality that is authentic and consistent with the brand’s values, designed for major global urban contexts.
The two new Costadoro Social Coffee outlets, both managed by the group’s UK subsidiary, are located in the London boroughs of Clapham Junction and Beckenham.
The Costadoro Social Coffee format debuts in London with a minimalist identity strongly focused on coffee, designed for a mature and demanding market where quality in the cup, transparency and fair pricing are key elements.
The concept sits between the best specialty coffee roasters and the mainstream offering, standing out for its accessible yet rigorous approach, which makes the coffee experience authentic, educational and consumer-friendly.
The premises are characterised by a contemporary and essential style, with industrial references and a particular focus on sustainability: recyclable and compostable materials for packaging, low-energy solutions and a functional design that places the bar counter at the centre of the experience.
A distinctive feature of the format is the interactive counter, designed as a place for interaction and dialogue, where customers can talk directly to the barista and learn more about the characteristics of the coffee they are tasting.
The coffee selection offers a choice of four iconic blends: Costadoro, Master, Lab, Extra and RespecTo, alongside filter coffee and options dedicated to a sophisticated and knowledgeable clientele. The experience is completed by a corner shop dedicated to the purchase of products for home consumption.
The food offering is curated by a London-based artisan workshop founded by a young Italian couple and is based on fresh, Italian-inspired products: from Italian-style brioche to panna cotta, from tiramisu to Costadoro coffee, lasagne and pizza by the slice, accompanied by fresh salads for lunch. The offering is completed by some of Turin’s finest products, such as MoleCola, Bicerin and Menodiciotto ice cream.
The flagship store in Clapham Junction, located just below Chelsea in one of the capital’s most dynamic and youthful neighbourhoods, has around 30 seats and is designed as a space where you can not just eat quickly, but also work or socialise, in line with London’s urban habits, which are strongly oriented towards takeaways.
Alongside the flagship store, Costadoro has also opened its first affiliated venue: Costadoro Social Coffee in Beckenham, created from the renovation and complete transformation of a former Starbucks. This project is the first example of a model designed to be replicable and scalable in the British market.
“We are proud to bring to London a model that fully represents our identity: quality coffee served with simplicity, culture and Italian passion. Beckenham and Clapham are the first step in a larger project that, in the coming years, will lead to the creation of a network of Costadoro Social Coffee outlets in the United Kingdom” said Gianlorenzo Beccuti, Managing Director of Costadoro UK Ltd.
