Following the success of Heritage Dulwich, Executive Chef Dayashankar Sharma is opening a second restaurant on 25 March. BAUJI in Worthing will serve modern Indian comfort food guided by the same philosophy as its Dulwich sister restaurant, but in a more relaxed and informal setting.

The restaurant’s name ‘Bauji’ draws on the Hindi word for father, and the menu reflects Sharma’s interpretation of Indian comfort cooking. Each dish is a personal expression, rooted in the nostalgic flavours of his childhood in Rajasthan and shaped by cherished family recipes and memories gathered around the table.
Located a short stroll from the seafront, the restaurant accommodates 45 covers with an additional 10 guests seated in a private dining room. The space features pink tiles inspired by the sandstone cities of Jaipur, with natural materials including wicker, stone, straw and greenery creating a warm setting rooted in Rajasthan’s earthy palette.
Hero dishes include Tandoori Avocado & Venison; Dahi Ke Kebab (paneer wrapped in kataifi); Konkani Fish Tikka (stone bass in coconut and curry leaves); and Dhaba Ka Murgh, inspired by Rajasthan’s roadside eateries.
Moving to the seaside are some guest favourites from Heritage Dulwich, including Shatkora Jhinga (prawns flavoured with rare Bangladeshi citrus) and Gunpowder Broccoli. An extensive drinks menu accompanies, from wines and craft beers to cocktails, each chosen to pair with the spice-led menu.
Chef Dayashankar Sharma commented: “Following the success of our Dulwich restaurant, opening BAUJI feels like a natural next step. Worthing’s charm, strong sense of community and flourishing independent food scene made it the right location for a more relaxed expression of our cooking, inspired by the food and memories of home. The enthusiasm we’ve already felt from the town has been incredible, and I’m excited to share our flavours with a new audience.”
