Lofoten, Norway. Nusfjord, one of Norway’s most historic and picturesque heritage destinations, is pleased to announce the appointment of Claudia Rodrigues as its new General Manager effective February 2026, strengthening the resort’s leadership team as it enters a new phase of strategic growth and brand positioning within the Nordic luxury hospitality market. With nearly two decades of global hospitality leadership experience spanning Europe, the South Pacific, and Africa, Rodrigues brings a deep passion for meaningful travel, cultural authenticity, and destination storytelling to her new role at the helm of Nusfjord Village & Resort.

“It has been essential for us to find a leader who not only understands but embodies the essence of Nusfjord’s hospitality—an experience shaped by nature, history, and Norwegian culture, where warm and genuine guest connections are at the core of everything we do,” says Caroline Krefting, owner of Nusfjord. “Claudia intuitively grasps the atmosphere we strive to create. With her depth of experience and remarkable capability, she is uniquely equipped to carry our vision forward. We are truly excited to continue shaping extraordinary guest experiences together with Claudia in the years ahead.”
A Global Journey Rooted in Discovery and Connection
Born in Portugal and raised across multiple continents, Rodrigues’ early exposure to diverse cultures ignited a lifelong passion for exploration and human connection. Fluent in Portuguese, Spanish, and English, and with working knowledge of languages as varied as Fijian and Vietnamese, her international upbringing has shaped a distinctly global leadership style.
After earning her MBA in Lisbon, Rodrigues began her career in the advertising world as an Accounts Supervisor in Madrid, managing several EMEA brands. Her grounding in branding, communications, and creative strategy continues to influence her approach to hospitality—where storytelling and experience design meet operational excellence.
From Branding to Hospitality Leadership
An unexpected opportunity with one of her agency clients led Rodrigues into the world of hospitality—an industry that would become her true vocation. Rodrigues combines a refined understanding of branding and communications with a deep operational acumen developed across diverse markets. Over the past 18 years, she has served as General Manager for hotels and resorts in Spain, Fiji, Vietnam, and Papua New Guinea, as well as BOH Operations Director for Barbuda Ocean Club in Antigua and Barbuda. Most recently, she led operations with Belmond Safaris in Botswana, where she honed her passion for nature-based luxury experiences.
Rodrigues’ personal and professional journey reflects an unwavering commitment to nature, community, and gastronomy. An avid skier, hiker, climber, and certified PADI Rescue Diver, she embodies the spirit of adventure that defines the Lofoten archipelago.
A Vision of Meaningful Luxury for Nusfjord
For Rodrigues, Nusfjord represents far more than a resort – it is a living cultural landscape. “Nusfjord is a heritage village with over 400 years of history, surrounded by the breathtaking beauty of the Lofoten Islands,” she says. “It offers guests the rare luxury of time, presence, and immersion. The opportunity to help shape a destination that tells its own story and creates truly meaningful experiences is profoundly inspiring.”
As General Manager, Rodrigues’ vision is to preserve and elevate Nusfjord’s authentic essence, embedding a ‘sense of place’ into every guest interaction. Having spent two weeks at the resort prior to accepting the position, Rodrigues immersed herself in the rhythms of village life, the surrounding nature, and the team behind the scenes. This hands-on introduction, she says, “helped shape a clear vision for how we can honor Nusfjord’s past while creating truly meaningful experiences for today’s traveler.” Her strategy centers on meaningful luxury, a philosophy that prioritizes authenticity, connection, and time over traditional notions of opulence.
“Our goal is to celebrate the character of the village while delivering exceptional service and creating moments that resonate deeply,” Rodrigues explains. “It’s about crafting experiences that linger long after our guests return home.”
