ZUMA, the iconic international destination for contemporary Japanese cuisine, arrives in Cortina D’Ampezzo with a new concept that combines the best of Japanese culture with the authenticity of the Italian Alps.

From 22 December, guests will be able to enjoy a multisensory experience immersed in the breathtaking views of the snow-covered Dolomite peaks. ZUMA Cortina, designed as a meeting place after a day on the slopes, evokes the convivial atmosphere of a Japanese izakaya, where dishes are shared, stories intertwine, and the joy of celebration fills the room.
The interior design, created by Azumi’s in-house design team establishes a genuine dialogue between cultures: the elegance of Japanese craftsmanship meets Italian alpine tradition through natural materials and details that harmonise with the surrounding landscape. The result is a welcoming, warm space, perfect for retreating from the winter cold.
ZUMA Cortina spans three areas: Main Room, Lounge, and Cocktail Bar.
The Main Room welcomes guests with an open robata kitchen and sushi counter, offering a unique experience not found in the brand’s other Italian locations, inviting diners to see the preparation of dishes as an integral part of the culinary ritual.
The Lounge and Cocktail Bar, featuring an installation of ice blocks set on granite, inspired by the Marmolada glaciers, provide the perfect setting to start with a sophisticated aperitif, continue with an intimate dinner, and finish with a vibrant after-dinner experience.
Each space is designed to bring people together to share food, stories, and emotions. The key word is versatility. ZUMA Cortina effortlessly transforms from an elegant restaurant into a lively nightlife destination. Equipped with an advanced audiovisual system developed by Isometrix, the venue synchronises music and lighting to create a dynamic atmosphere that evolves throughout the night.
The menu blends Zuma’s signature creations with seasonal inspirations rooted in local ingredients and traditions. Guests can enjoy a culinary journey ranging from the velvety richness of lobster soup with artichokes and ginger, to the aromatic nuances of mushroom, cabbage, yuzu kosho, and truffle, to the depth of beef gyoza and mushroom and truffle kamameshi, also available with braised beef cheek.
The wine list features a selection of international labels and exceptional small producers, with a focus on Northern Italian reds and an extensive range of sake.
Every evening, live music and DJ sets complete the experience, with a DJ console built into a large wooden communal table where guests can enjoy drinks and be immersed in Zuma’s unique energy.
“We are delighted to bring Zuma to Cortina d’Ampezzo,” said William Cristanelli, Managing Director for Zuma UK & Europe. “As someone from the Veneto region who grew up skiing in the Dolomites, this opening feels especially meaningful to me. Cortina’s unique blend of alpine charm and timeless elegance makes it the perfect setting to introduce Zuma’s contemporary Japanese dining experience to the mountains.”
