Hospitality merchants trading in the UK and EEA can now join a funded legal claim addressing unlawful multilateral interchange fees (MIFs) charged on Visa and Mastercard transactions.

In June 2025, the UK Competition Appeal Tribunal confirmed that these fees breached Article 101(1) TFEU, establishing firm legal precedent for recovery.
The claim is managed by Hausfeld & Co LLP, one of Europe’s leading competition litigation firms, with litigation funding from Bench Walk Advisors. Claimants pay no upfront costs, all legal expenses are covered by the funder and After the Event (ATE) insurance protects against adverse costs.
To qualify, hospitality businesses must have processed Visa and/or Mastercard transactions in the UK and EEA within the last six years and have an annual card turnover above €50 million.
Businesses that have previously settled with Visa or Mastercard may be excluded, depending on the terms of their settlement.
Registration is non-binding, takes under two minutes, and is confidential.
Registration deadline: 19th December 2025.
