In early 2026, Hoppers will open the doors to its fourth London restaurant at the Tea Building in Shoreditch. Marking ten years since the launch of its much loved Soho original, Hoppers Shoreditch is a celebration of flavour, travel, inspiration, storytelling and the start of the next decade of discovery.

At Hoppers Shoreditch, the team looks beyond Sri Lanka to the regions that have long influenced much of their cooking, the southern states of India. The new menu explores five culinary heartlands from India:
- Chettinad, with its fiery nose to tail curries and deep spice traditions
- Madurai, famed for its vibrant street food culture
- Bangalore, where the dosa scene meets modern cocktail bars
- Kochi, home to comforting dishes rooted in coastal family kitchens
- Chennai, celebrated for its aromatic biryanis and layered regional classics
Guests can expect to find all the Hoppers favourites alongside brand-new regional dishes from these five key regions. Capturing the essence of South India through fresh eyes and dishes never before seen at Hoppers.
The restaurant’s design, by the acclaimed Atelier Wren, reimagines the palaces and traditional homes of South India through a contemporary Shoreditch lens. Inspirations include the carved beams of Padmanabhapuram Palace, the ornate ceilings of Mattancherry Palace, and the serene neutral tones of Dakshina Chitra. Details draw from the ancestral Chettiyar homes of Chettinad, including The Bangala and Meyyappan family houses, places the team visited to cook with the legendary Meenakshi Meyyappan, the 92 year old queen of Chettinad cuisine.
As with all Hoppers interiors, the spirit of Geoffrey Bawa runs through the design. Tropical modernism softened with timber textures, hand finished surfaces, and subtle nods to temple iconography such as water lilies and tropical foliage. The result is an immersive, evolution of Hoppers’ DNA, recognisable, yet entirely new.
A refreshed bar programme complements the regional focus, drawing inspiration from the drinks and café culture of South India. Signature cocktails will reinterpret classics with London’s progressive cocktail craftsmanship while celebrating southern botanicals, tropical fruits, and regional spirits, presented through the same curiosity and creativity that have long defined Hoppers’ food and drinks.
On the new opening, Founder Karan Gokani says: “This opening marks a very exciting new chapter for us. Over the past decade, Sri Lanka has been at the heart of what we do but our Indian heritage and journeys through South India have opened up a world of flavours, traditions and stories that have greatly inspired us. At Shoreditch, we will celebrate many of the lesser known regions and dishes of South India while continuing to connect the dots between Lanka and India in a way that feels fresh, vibrant and deeply personal.”
