The July Kitchen Porters Club Kitchen Porter of the Month, James Read, a trainee at The Crumbs Project, now proudly dons his Kitchen Porters Club membership apron every day at training. Pictured below you can see James at work in the kitchen at Crumbs.

James was nominated by Ursula Boardman, Head of Centre at Crumbs, who kindly sent us the photo, letting us know how proud James is of his membership. Ursula’s nomination of James for the July Kitchen Porters Club Kitchen Porter of the Month read: “James is a non-verbal neurodiverse young man who is highly motivated and constantly smiles with enthusiasm in everything he does. He works hard on his communication skills and is a dab hand at keeping our dishwash area under control.”
James isn’t the only member of the Kitchen Porters Club who is training at Crumbs. Sarah Buchanan, who won Kitchen Porters Club Kitchen Porter of the Month earlier this year in May, is also pictured below wearing her apron alongside her membership certificate and Meiko branded water bottle.

Paul Anderson, Managing Director of Meiko UK and Chair at The Kitchen Porters Club, shared his pleasure in seeing hard-working and talented kitchen porters recognised and celebrated by their colleagues: “The array of entries every month clearly demonstrates an immense appreciation of kitchen porters, and at the same time highlights the positive team cultures thriving in hospitality and catering workplaces.
“Nominations reflect a sense of team, camaraderie, and people-focused culture at the forefront of our industry. We celebrate this, appreciate all the nominations received, and congratulate all of the highly regarded nominees on their achievements.”
The Kitchen Porters Club Kitchen Porter of the Month Awards are open to all kitchen porters working or training in commercial kitchens across the UK, in every sector of our industry.
