The Sushi Co has opened in Walthamstow, Tariq Mohamed will now run the restaurant with the help of six locally recruited team members.

Franchisee Tariq Mohamed commented: “I’ve been good friends with Co-Founder of The Sushi Co, Raheel Choudhary for some time, and although my background is in commercial electronics distribution, I was intrigued by the concept of live sushi kitchens. I’ve been a real sushi fan for many years, and loved the way that authentic fresh sushi was being made accessible to mainstream customers through the franchise. The management team have really got it right from the layout to the ingredients, flavours and aroma, and I’m now excited to become a franchisee for my own live sushi kitchen.
“We identified a great site on Hoe St in Warthemstow and the area has a growing population with lots of young people, so the dynamic was a match. I’ve been supported with fit out, training and marketing and our launch day was very busy. The local community have been really welcoming for our new venture and are keen to try our range of incredible minutes fresh sushi dishes. There is a big gap in the market for both delivery and walk in customers and we now look forward to building on the positive feedback we have received so far.”
The Sushi Co Walthamstow opened on 4 September 2025 and follows successful recent openings in Tower Bridge, Brighton, Harringay and Hampstead.
Co-Founder of The Sushi Co Raheel Choudhary confirmed: “We have ambitious expansion plans fuelled by the popularity of our expertly prepared, delicious fresh sushi. We have tapped into a growing trend for healthier food choices and our menu choices ensure there is something for everyone to enjoy. We are now welcoming applications from potential franchisees looking to invest in a thriving space with full support from our experienced management team.”
