Rugby Star Thom Evans Spotted Giving Commuters Matchas and Papers at Clapham Junction

September 3, 2025

Former international rugby player and Ivy regular Thom Evans, recently brought a touch of glamour to Clapham Junction station, taking over a bespoke newsstand to spread the word of The Ivy Northcote Road Brasserie, opening on Tuesday 30th September.

Commuters were treated to a special edition of The Ivy Times, a dedicated newspaper featuring exclusive details about the new restaurant, alongside refreshing Ivy iced matcha lattes. The buzz around the launch echoed throughout the station, setting the scene for what will be one of the area’s most exciting new openings.

Housed in the beautifully restored Old Bank building in Battersea, this stylish new spot will bring The Ivy’s signature charm to one of London’s most loved neighbourhoods. With reservations open, now is the chance to be among the first to enjoy everything this exciting new restaurant has to offer. Inside, the beautiful restaurant will cater for up to 103 guests, with a cosy terrace for 20 – perfect for soaking up the buzz of the lively Northcote Road.

The menu is a celebration of modern British favourites and Ivy classics such as the famous Ivy Shepherd’s Pie, with an abundance of delicious vegan and vegetarian options too. The restaurant’s bespoke cocktail menu will include locally sourced aperitifs and spirits including Renegade New Age London Gin crafted just down the road from the brasserie, as well as Vault dry vermouth made exclusively for the Ivy.

Announcing the eagerly anticipated opening, General Manager Charlie Dimbleby, said: “We’re truly excited to welcome our guests to the Ivy Northcote Road Brasserie later this month. Today has been a wonderful opportunity to connect with the local community and offer them a glimpse of our signature Ivy experience.”

Ivy regular and former rugby player Thom Evans added: “As a long-time fan of The Ivy, it was a pleasure to drum up excitement with the Battersea and Clapham locals today ahead of the restaurant opening later this month. The Ivy has such an iconic reputation and I will be eager to visit what promises to be a new favourite spot when I’m in London.”

The Ivy Collection will open the new Ivy Northcote Road Brasserie at 31-37 Northcote Rd, London SW11 1NJ, from Tuesday 30th September.
