The Headland Appoints New Non-Executive Director

August 7, 2025

The Headland is delighted to announce the appointment of Sue Williams as a new non-executive Director, bringing an innovative wave of expertise to its boardroom.

Sue Williams, Non-Executive Director of The Headland

An industry leader with a deep passion for sustainability, people-first leadership and purpose-driven business, Sue brings with her a strong track record of steering organisations toward environmental best practice and a more people-positive future.
As part of her role on the board, Sue is poised to help the iconic Cornish hotel shape a bold and responsible future, one that honours its heritage while embracing innovation.

“It’s not every day a family board of directors opens its arms to an outsider,” said Veryan Palmer, Family Director of The Headland. “But Sue brings exactly what we were looking for, fresh thinking, sharp insight and a shared love for this beautiful place and the people who make it special.”

Working closely with the board of directors, the Managing Director and the senior management team, Sue will focus on two of The Headland’s top priorities: developing industry-leading sustainability strategies in conjunction with EarthCheck and nurturing a people-powered culture.

From reducing carbon footprints to enhancing staff wellbeing, Sue will help ensure The Headland continues to be a place where both the planet and people thrive.

“This hotel is part of Cornwall’s soul,” said Sue. “It’s an honour to join the team and help shape its next chapter, one that marries the family values with the rigor to meet the opportunities and pace of change that lie ahead.”

Jason Adams’ position as Managing Director remains unchanged, he continues to oversee the operations across the business and be the team’s day-to-day leader.

As a business deeply rooted in family values, Cornish heritage and community support, this appointment marks a proud evolution, ensuring that The Headland not only stands tall on the cliffs but also leads by example in the industry.
