Month in month out the Kitchen Porters Club sees and recognises the incredible work done by kitchen porters across catering and hospitality, from care homes to schools, to hotels, pubs and restaurants. This couldn’t happen unless their colleagues make time to nominate them, doing so sends a message underlining a people focused culture alive and well within their businesses.

We are delighted to report another busy month at the Kitchen Porters Club, examining entries for their Kitchen Porter of the Month competition, a sought after accolade.
The July Kitchen Porter of the Month is James Read, a trainee at The Crumbs Project, nominated by Ursula Boardman, Head of Centre at Crumbs.
Ursula’s nomination read: “James is a non-verbal neurodiverse young man who is highly motivated and constantly smiles with enthusiasm in everything he does. He works hard on his communication skills and is a dab hand at keeping our dishwash area under control.”

Paul Anderson, Managing Director, Meiko UK and Chair at The Kitchen Porters Club told us just how pleased he was to see another hard working and talented kitchen porter being recognised and seen by their colleagues: “The array of entries every month clearly demonstrate am immense appreciation of kitchen porters, and at the same time show positive team cultures in hospitality and catering workplaces.
“Nominations reflect a sense of team, comradery, and people focused culture at the forefront of our industry. We celebrate this, appreciate all the nominations received and congratulate all of the highly regarded nominees on their achievements.”
A Kitchen Porters Club membership certificate, branded apron and water bottle are now on their way to James at The Crumbs Project. We hope to publish a photograph of James receiving his prizes soon.
