Grantley Hall’s New Country Pub, Grantley Arms, to Open its Doors on 14th August 2025

August 1, 2025

Five-star North Yorkshire Hotel, Grantley Hall, will open the doors to its newest culinary venture, Grantley Arms, on Thursday 14th August 2025. Situated just a two-minute drive or a picturesque country walk from the hotel in the neighbouring Grantley Village, the pub invites guests to savour the very best of Yorkshire’s local flavours in a relaxed yet refined setting.

Formerly a historic village pub, Grantley Arms has undergone a careful restoration process to preserve its original character while being thoughtfully reimagined for today. Original features such as fireplaces and exposed ceiling beams have been preserved, whilst contemporary touches – such as quirky artwork and comfortable seating areas – have been introduced to enhance the space. A rich palette of green, warm coppers and wood creates a welcoming atmosphere, while subtle nods to the pub’s past add character and a unique sense of charm. Outside, the terrace provides a tranquil spot to enjoy an alfresco drink or meal in the sunshine, complemented by beautiful views of the rolling Yorkshire countryside. Grantley Arms is both family and dog-friendly, offering a welcoming environment for all.

At the helm of the kitchen is Chef Patron Gavin Swift, formerly Senior Sous Chef at Grantley Hall. Having joined the hotel’s culinary team in 2019 as Sous Chef at Fletchers Restaurant, Gavin has since played an integral role across the hotel’s dining outlets, including seasonal eatery The Orchard. Gavin brings over 20 years of culinary experience to the Grantley Arms, drawing inspiration from his early culinary roots in Yorkshire pubs as well as a passion for Mediterranean flavours – shaped by his childhood travels through France and Menorca.

Speaking on his new role, Gavin Swift said: “It’s a real honour to be appointed Chef Patron at the Grantley Arms. I’ve been part of the Grantley Hall team for several years now, and I’m proud to bring everything we stand for – exceptional quality, local ingredients, and true Yorkshire hospitality – into a relaxed, countryside setting. I actually became a chef by accident, but my very first job was in a pub. So, it feels quite special to be returning to my roots, leading a pub we hope will become a true culinary destination”.

The Grantley Arms menu is a celebration of seasonal ingredients and features contemporary twists on pub classics. A daily specials board will also champion fresh fish, limited-edition creations and plates designed around the best seasonal produce, ensuring there’s something new and delicious to try with every visit.

Grantley Arms will become the sixth dining destination at Grantley Hall, complementing the hotel’s existing offerings. Whether enjoyed by hotel guests, local residents or passing visitors, Grantley Arms is set to become a standout culinary destination for those seeking the very best of Yorkshire’s local flavours in an atmosphere that feels both warm and inviting.
