The Red Lion, East Bergholt, The Angel Inn, Stoke by Nayland and The Anchor Inn, Nayland have joined Chestnut, expanding its collection of pubs with rooms and Big House hotels across the East of England. These new additions come as the group opens three new lodge style bedrooms in the grounds of The Crown Stoke by Nayland, reinforcing their continued focus on supporting local communities, celebrating regional provenance and investing in heritage-rich destinations like Suffolk.

The Angel Inn and The Anchor Inn remain open to the public and will continue to trade as normal, The Red Lion will re-open on 25 August. As with all Chestnut properties, community will be at the heart of this new chapter for The Red Lion, The Angel Inn and The Anchor Inn. The aim is to ensure they continue to be a gathering place for locals, their four-legged friends, walkers and visitors alike – with guest experience at its core.
Chestnut Founder and CEO, Philip Turner says: “Despite the challenging environment we remain committed to a successful future for hospitality and are thrilled to welcome these charming places into our collection, securing their future for local communities. Each one has its own character which, as always, we’ll preserve, adding Chestnut’s commitment to place, provenance and personality. We’re looking forward to working alongside the team and getting to know the guests.”
