The CRUMBS Project has made history by becoming the first charity in the UK to be officially accredited as a training organisation by the Craft Guild of Chefs. This prestigious recognition highlights The CRUMBS Project’s commitment to delivering high-quality culinary training and creating meaningful career pathways in the hospitality industry for those facing barriers to employment.

The Craft Guild of Chefs is the UK’s leading professional association for chefs, dedicated to promoting culinary excellence, along with encouraging and engaging all sectors of the hospitality industry to promote professional career development. By providing training, networking opportunities, competitions, and accreditation, the Craft Guild of Chefs work to raise standards and inspire innovation across the hospitality industry.
The CRUMBS Project has officially been accredited as a training organisation by the Craft Guild of Chefs, becoming the first not-for-profit organisation in the UK to earn this distinction. The charity provides hospitality-based training for adults with disabilities, providing them with essential skills and experience to improve their employability and independence.
Holding Institute of Hospitality endorsement for the past 5 years, The CRUMBS Project delivers professional training and development programmes in Food Production & Service, Housekeeping, Administration, and Digital Skills. In receiving this latest accreditation, the charity’s training programmes are recognised as meeting the Craft Guild of Chefs’ stringent quality criteria for curriculum, faculty expertise, and facilities.

The CRUMBS Project’s training programmes and learning environment in Bournemouth were formally assessed by Neil Rippington, who is a highly respected culinary educator and industry leader who serves on the Craft Guild of Chefs’ Education Committee. Neil spoke about his experience at the charity:
“I spent time in the kitchens observing the training, and it is very well thought through and a well-managed system. It is quite humbling in terms of the distance travelled from somebody who comes here, who might not have the brightest of futures at that particular time, and the difference [The] CRUMBS [Project’s] training makes to those individuals is astonishing! I had no reservations whatsoever in saying [The] CRUMBS [Project] should be accredited as a training provider by the Craft Guild of Chefs for the great work it does here and for the community.”
Chair of The CRUMBS Project, Professor Peter A. Jones MBE, spoke about his pride in the charity achieving this milestone:
“We’re immensely proud to receive this endorsement from such a highly respected institution in the UK hospitality industry. Becoming a Craft Guild of Chefs accredited training provider is a significant step forward for The CRUMBS Project, both in terms of being recognised for delivering professional culinary training and education to a high standard, but also in terms of reputation, impact, and reach for our charity in the industry. We’re always looking for opportunities to connect our charity with chefs and other industry professionals, and so if you’re enthusiastic about shaping the industry to be more inclusive, we’d love to connect.”
