This week, Brend Collection celebrated Area Director Matthew Raistrick’s 40-year service award.. What started as a 6-month work experience from Blackpool College turned into a lifelong career.
Matthew completed his hospitality degree at Blackpool College, part of which was a six-month industry placement at The Victoria Hotel in 1984. After completing his studies and making such a good impression, Matthew was offered a position as Junior Assistant Manager at Saunton Sands Hotel in 1985.
After experiencing a few other roles in different Brend Hotels, Matthew returned to Sidmouth in July 1987 where he has never looked back! Matthew was promoted through various managerial roles before his hard work and dedication to the company earned him the title Area Director in 2010, where he oversees both the Victoria & Belmont Hotels.
Chairman of Brend Collection, John Brend, said, “Working with Matthew over the past 40 years has been one of the greatest experiences of my working life. From his early days as a young trainee gaining experience across the company to becoming a respected leader of two of our flagship hotels, Mathew’s work ethic is second to none and I’m grateful for all he’s done.”
Matthew Raistrick summed up the last 40 years by saying, “It’s been a privilege to work for the Brend collection for 40 years. I’d like to thank all my colleagues, past and present, our team at Head Office, the Brend family in particular, Mr John Brend. Our loyal customers, and finally my wife and sons, for all their support.
