Café Deco, the European-inspired restaurant in Bloomsbury led by Chef-Owner Anna Tobias, is pleased to announce the appointment of Augusta Hood as Head Chef.

Augusta joined Café Deco as a Junior Chef when the restaurant opened in November 2020 and has grown alongside the team over the past five years. In her new role as Head Chef, Augusta will oversee day-to-day kitchen operations, lead on menu development, and continue to mentor and support the team she has helped to shape.
Of the appointment, Chef-Owner Anna Tobias says, “We are thrilled to name Augusta as Head Chef at Café Deco. She has been central to the restaurant since day one – not only is she a talented cook with a brilliant palate, but she also leads the kitchen with calm authority and real care. As her responsibilities have grown over time, this new role is a natural progression and well-deserved recognition of her work.”
Augusta’s first role in hospitality was at Tivoli Bread and Baking in New York, where she worked as Assistant Baker while studying at Bard College. After graduating, she moved to London and spent three years working at the River Cafe, where she first met Anna Tobias. Both experiences were invaluable in nurturing the foundations of the simple, seasonal and timeless cooking that have come to define her approach today. Earlier this year, she was named one of The National Restaurant Awards’ Rising Stars of 2025.
