Richmond Hill Hotel Celebrates Great Big Green Week with Continued Commitment to a More Sustainable World

June 10, 2025

During Great Big Green Week (7–15 June 2025), a nationwide celebration of action on climate change, Richmond Hill Hotel is proud to shine a light on its longstanding commitment to sustainability.

From eliminating landfill waste to reducing carbon emissions and investing in green energy, the hotel has been on a dedicated mission to minimise their environmental impact since 2015.
With over £9 million invested into enhancing energy performance, Richmond Hill Hotel has implemented a suite of initiatives aimed at reducing environmental impact. These include the installation of energy-efficient lighting and HVAC systems, improved insulation, and the transition to a fully electric kitchen, cutting CO₂ emissions by an impressive 15 tonnes a year.
One of the hotel’s most notable achievements is its Zero Waste to Landfill policy. By handling waste responsibly on-site, the team ensures nothing is sent to landfill, reinforcing its commitment to a circular economy.

In addition to infrastructure upgrades, Richmond Hill Hotel encourages guests to embrace sustainable transport where possible. With excellent public transport links and the installation of EV chargers for guests with electric cars, visitors can explore Richmond on foot or via eco-friendly alternatives.

Charlotte Alldis, Marketing Director at Richmond Hill Hotel, says: “We are dedicated to making sure Richmond Hill Hotel is as sustainable as possible, and all of our efforts are geared towards a bigger goal of protecting our planet. We have set a bold target of reaching Net Zero emissions for our own operations by 2035, and across our entire value chain by 2040, and our investment to date means we’re on a great path towards our goal of a greener future.

“We also actively engage with the local community to raise awareness on the importance of climate change and inspire action where we can, and we look forward to continuing our commitment to a more sustainable world in the years to come.”

Richmond Hill Hotel currently sources 100% of its electricity from certified renewable energy providers, and its centralised heating and air conditioning systems have significantly reduced energy consumption.

Great Big Green Week is a nationwide celebration of community action to tackle climate change and protect nature. Richmond Hill Hotel is proud to be part of this growing movement, demonstrating that sustainability is not just possible, it’s essential.
