Mandarin Oriental Unveils New Wellness Experiences for Global Wellness Day

June 8, 2025

The Spas at Mandarin Oriental will once again unite with the global wellness community on Saturday, 14 June 2025, in honour of Global Wellness Day (GWD). This year’s theme, #ReconnectMagenta, is a powerful call to action encouraging individuals around the world to restore meaningful connections—with nature, loved ones, communities and most importantly, themselves.

On GWD, Mandarin Oriental celebrates ‘reconnection’ as a foundational element of wellbeing or Inner Strength. As a longstanding supporter of this not-for-profit initiative, Mandarin Oriental continues its commitment to wellness by offering complimentary experiences across its Spas and Wellness facilities worldwide, inspired by Oriental philosophy, authentic cultural rituals and empathetic care.

Building Inner Strength Through Connection: The Five Pillars of #ReconnectMagenta

Each Mandarin Oriental location will present unique activations designed to align with the five dimensions of reconnection:

  • Reconnect with Mother Nature: Outdoor meditation sessions, forest bathing walks, and eco-conscious spa treatments such as marine-based facials and grounding barefoot rituals.
  • Reconnect with Self: Bespoke guided journaling, one-on-one mindfulness coaching, and silent tea ceremonies that reflect the Group’s holistic and introspective approach.
  • Reconnect with Family & Friends: Family-focused yoga flows, wellness picnics, and shared treatments in spa suites designed to foster quality time.
  • Reconnect with Community: Partnerships with local artisans and wellness experts, including complimentary workshops and donation-based events supporting regional charities.
  • Reconnect with Longevity: Wellness workshops exploring emotional resilience, energy-based therapies, and Mandarin Oriental’s Authentic Rituals Collection, including treatments rooted in traditional Chinese medicine and Ayurvedic principles.

From Digital Detox to Ritual Renewal

Following the success of 2024’s “Tech Detox Escapes,” Mandarin Oriental will expand its Digital Wellness Initiative, offering guests the tools to manage their digital relationships. Guests are encouraged to pause, unplug and be present as they participate in screen-free activities inspired by the ancient wisdom of the East.

“This year’s GWD theme is a natural evolution of Mandarin Oriental’s wellness philosophy,” said Jeremy McCarthy, Group Director of Spa & Wellness. “We believe that true wellbeing begins with reconnection—to the self, to our communities, and to the world around us. Our experiences are designed not only to inspire but to transform.”

A Movement, Not a Moment

GWD is more than a single-day event. As part of its Exceptional Wellbeing commitment, Mandarin Oriental empowers guests to sustain their journey with take-home rituals, access to expert-led tutorials via MO’s digital platforms, and wellness products inspired by its spa heritage.

Guests are encouraged to follow the celebrations around the world through the hashtags #MO_GWD25 #GlobalWellnessDay, and to share their own stories of reconnection.
