Hotel MOTTO’s renowned restaurant, CHEZ BERNARD, overseen by Head Chef Markus Winkler, has reopened its eighth floor rooftop terrace in time for the summer, offering guests an open-air dining experience with stunning views over Vienna.

The cuisine is modern Austrian fare with French and Mediterranean influences, where fresh preparation and organic ingredients take centre stage alongside unparalleled, familial service. Guests can dine on CHEZ BERNARD classics like Gnocchi à la Parisienne or Moules, alongside new dishes such as Octopus Taco and St Louis Cut Pork Ribs.
With a selection of oysters and delectable small plates on offer, including Steak Tartare with Confit Egg Yolk and Stracciatella, the menu is perfect for sharing. Those with a sweet tooth can conclude the meal with Mousse au Chocolat Noir – complete with crème fraîche, pecan brownie, salted caramel and calamansi – or Jardin des Fraises – strawberries finished with pistachio dacquoise and pistachio praline.
To complement the food, diners can choose from a carefully curated wine list or indulge in expertly crafted summer serves such as a Joie de Vivre, made from two types of gin mixed with cucumber syrup and lychee liqueur, a Spicy Margarita, or a Pampelle Spritz. Several low or no alcohol aperitifs are also available, including non-alcoholic wine, Crodino Spritz, and Tanqueray 0.0% and tonic, as well as non-alcoholic cocktails such as a Virgin Pornstar Martini and a Saffrano, made with saffron, lemon and soda.
Enjoy Organic Bakes and Beers at MOTTO Brot’s Schani Garden
Making the most of Vienna’s famous café culture, HOTEL MOTTO’s ground floor organic artisanal bakery, MOTTO BROT, has reopened its Schani Garden – the bakery’s signature outdoor terrace – offering a serene setting to enjoy a leisurely breakfast, a midday escape, or an early evening aperitif directly at the shopping street Mariahilfer.
Known for its organic sourdough breads, delicate viennoiseries, and elegant pâtisserie, made using the finest local ingredients, MOTTO BROT’s Schani Garden will also serve wines, spritz’s, homemade lemonades, alongside its very own craft beer, Brewdi, which is brewed and bottled by Viennese institution, Ottakringer Brauwerk, using the barley juice from the bakery’s leftover bread for an extra shot of sustainability.
The all-day menu includes breakfast highlights such as the Viennoise Frühstück, including freshly baked brioche kipferl, Neunerlei bread with butter and homemade jam, and eggs. Guests can also enjoy savory classics like scrambled egg bread with herbs, alongside sweet offerings such as French toast with berries and salted caramel, and a nourishing vegan porridge, with lunch offerings including quiches, tartines, and artisanal sandwiches.
