Free industry conference champions Northern Hospitality

May 7, 2025

Get ready for a FREE action-packed day at the Institute of Hospitality’s North Region’s ‘Thriving in the North’ Conference on Tuesday 13 May 2025 at the Concorde Conference Centre, home of Concorde G-BOAC (Alpha Charlie), in Greater Manchester.

Following the success of the ‘Thrive in the North Conference 2024’, this year’s hospitality conference places the North of England firmly back on the agenda, bringing professionals from across the hospitality sector, including operators, suppliers, educators, and students under one roof to discuss hospitality in the north.

With a keynote presentation by Liverpool Football Club, on ‘Our thriving profession: Things that matter’ the conference agenda also features insights from industry leaders from The Ivy Collection, Expedia, HJUK, Oakland Care, Institute of Hospitality CEO Robert Richardson FIH MI and political figure, entrepreneur and co-creator of Manchester’s Parklife Festival, Sasha Lord.

Supported by hospitality industry sponsors, the action-packed conference, which concludes with networking drinks and a tour of the Concorde aircraft, is free for all to attend and includes free lunch and refreshments.

Hospitality professionals from across the UK are due to attend and delegates can expect a full day of inspiration and innovation, covering hot topics including Sustainability; Connectivity, Understanding the workforce, Self-care/ Wellbeing, and Marketing.

Speaking about bringing the conference back to the North of England, the Institute of Hospitality’s North Regional Chair and Operations Director at Dakota Hotels Matt Townley FIH MI, explained: “Frustratingly London is often where major conferences find their home, so we are excited to deliver our second major conference in Greater Manchester to drive the northern agenda and help demonstrate that hospitality is ‘Thriving in the North’.

“We have a great deal to celebrate, both individually and collectively and have a great line-up of speakers and panellists to help inform and inspire our delegates. This year the conference is free to attend; only made possible thanks to the incredible support and generosity of our sponsors.”

As Institute of Hospitality CEO Robert Richardson FIH MI explains, the Thrive Conferences in the north of England are now a set item on the Institute’s agenda: “The Institute’s North Region have worked tirelessly to create an incredible programme which aims to help drive performance, leadership, and help businesses continue to thrive in the north of England this year and beyond.

“I’m excited to be part of the thought-provoking discussions we plan to have about hospitality in the north, hear expert insights from across our diverse industry, and have some practical takeaways from the speakers, the panellists, and the delegates. It will be a day not to be missed for any hospitality professional, supply chain operator or hospitality students in the area.
