Kricket, the Indian restaurant group founded by Rik Campbell and Will Bowlby, has opened its latest location in Shoreditch at 36 Charlotte Road. This site marks a milestone for the brand, introducing its first ever breakfast menu alongside a new all-day Kafé and bar concept, complementing its à la carte offerings.
The Shoreditch space features an 80-cover restaurant serving Kricket’s signature modern Indian dishes, as well as a 50-seat Kafé and bar where guests can enjoy breakfast, street food-inspired snacks, and a curated drinks list in a relaxed yet refined setting. The Kafé doubles as a lifestyle space for Shoreditch’s creative professionals and the venue also includes a private dining and meeting room for up to 18 guests, which will launch later this year.
On their new opening the duo have said :“We’re excited to bring our first-ever Kricket all-day Kafé and bar concept to Shoreditch, offering the perfect backdrop to launch our brand new breakfast menu, which has been in the works for over a year. Shoreditch has long been on our radar with its vibrant food scene, and this year it’s set to become an even bigger culinary destination with a wave of new openings. We’re looking forward to the journey ahead.”
Housed in a former Victorian dispensary, the interiors, designed by CAKE Architecture, boast high ceilings, abundant natural light, and a cosy open log fire. The walls, painted in Jaipur Pink, a colour inspired by India’s historic ‘Pink City’, are adorned with bespoke artworks curated by Chef Patron Will Bowlby, reflecting both the brand’s identity and Shoreditch’s creative arts scene.
Kricket’s much-anticipated breakfast menu, served from 8am, blends Indian flavours with British breakfast staples. Standout dishes include Fried Eggs served with tomato chutney, smoked yoghurt, and curry leaf brown butter; Kedgeree featuring Andhra-spiced rice and lentils topped with smoked haddock and a soft boiled egg; and The Full Kricket, a reimagined full English featuring smoked bacon chop, mushrooms, eggs, chole, and tamarind brown sauce. For the sweet toothed, the Shahi Tukra offers a twist on French toast with rhubarb and custard (pictured above); while the Vanilla Shrikhand pairs spiced granola with rhubarb and jaggery.
Guests can enjoy these dishes with fresh juices, coffees, or teas, or opt for a warming Masala Chai, (option to spice this up a little further with a shot of rum or whisky). For something stronger, breakfast cocktails include the Peach & Pomelo Bellini; the Bloody Maharaja; the Naashta Sour with vodka, cinnamon orgeat, and marmalade; and Khoosh in the Morning, a combination of Khoosh, absinthe, and English sparkling wine. Non-alcoholic cold tea infusions such as Himalayan Ginger & Lemongrass, Rare Mint, and Mountain Moto are also available for a refreshing start to the day.
As the day progresses, the Kafé transforms into a vibrant evening bar, open until midnight. Propped up at the bar, guests can enjoy street food-inspired snacks with highlights including the Goan Sausage Roll with tomato chutney; crispy Squid Koliwada with green chilli mayonnaise; and the Lost Village cult favourite Bombay Toastie with Keens cheddar, green chutney, and piccalilli. Drinks include selections from the natural-leaning wine list, refreshing draught beers, and signature cocktails such as the King Lime – a mix of rum, Gondhoraj lime, coconut, and soda; and the Jal Jina, featuring mezcal, blood orange, cumin bitters, and soda. No and low-alcohol options include the Kricket signature Fresh Lime Soda (sweet or salted); Coconut & Ginger Lassi; Pentire Spritz with Indian bay; and the Kashmiri Adrift made with Pentire Adrift, Kashmiri chilli, lime, and agave.
