Iconic eighth-generation family rum business Goslings is to run a unique Generation Game event at Mala Gardens in Manchester in the lead up to Mother’s Day.
Taking place on Wednesday, 26th March, the event is open to all but is specifically designed to welcome daughters, mums, grandmothers and even great grandmothers to the magical world of rum.
With tickets priced at just £6 each, which includes a free Dark ‘n Stormy on arrival, guests will be treated to a distinctive and delicious discovery rum tasting run by Emily Gosling – an eighth generation Gosling.
The tasting will provide a unique insight into Goslings’ famous rums including its Black Seal, Gold Seal, Family Reserve, Papa Seal and the recently launched Spirited Seas, which is aged in barrels while at sea.
The one-of-a-kind event will provide bar snacks for guests and will also host a special rum quiz with a selection of star prizes to be won.
Guests will be welcomed from 5pm on the 26th March at Mala Garden’s newest venue – The Library with the event finishing at 8pm. To purchase tickets for the event, visit here.
Samantha Burke, MD of Goslings’ UK distributor Love Drinks, said: “Goslings is a family business in the truest sense of the word and with the company now being run by the eighth generation, we felt Mother’s Day provided a fantastic opportunity to highlight the brand’s heritage, while introducing more women of all ages to the majesty of rum. It’s great to be at Mala Gardens and have Emily Gosling in town for the celebration.”
About Goslings Rum
In 1806, Englishman James Goslings set sail on The Mercury bound for America with £10,000 worth of goods. Due to becalmed seas, the ship’s charter expired and James put in at the nearest British port: St. George’s, Bermuda. Identifying the opportunity to sell wines and spirits on the island, James decided to set up shop in Bermuda and the Gosling family has been there ever since.
In the 1850s, after much experimental blending, a distinctive black rum was offered for sale. Smooth and flavourful, at first it was simply called “Old Rum” and until the First World War, it was sold straight from the barrel. Eventually, Old Rum was sold in Champagne bottles reclaimed from the British Officer’s Mess, with corks ‘sealed’ in black wax. Hence the name, “Black Seal Rum”. Goslings is Bermuda’s oldest business and is currently run by the eighth generation of the Gosling family.
