Aramark UK’s Education and Healthcare sector has proudly delivered over £43 million in social value impact. The 2024 contributions have been validated by the Social Value Portal and TOMs framework, assessing the sector’s positive input across local communities, employment, and sustainable business practices.

The sector has made impressive strides to make a meaningful impact on its colleagues and the communities it serves with a range of initiatives and contributions, including:

  • Local Employment: By employing a workforce that predominantly lives within 15 miles of their workplace, local economies are boosted, and employees benefit from reduced commuting times and costs.
  • Apprenticeships: Over 924 weeks of apprenticeship training delivered across 21 teams, covering a wide range of disciplines from Culinary Production to Marketing Management, and from CIPD People Management to Operational Management. These apprenticeships provide valuable skills and career development opportunities for colleagues.
  • Work Experience: 292 weeks of work experience completed. These experiences are provided across universities and colleges, enhancing student employability and life skills.
  • Return to Work Support: Through collaboration with the Salvation Army, hospitality-based skills training is delivered for residents from diverse backgrounds, supporting their route back to work and future employability.
  • Educational Workshops: 55 hours of curriculum enrichment workshops and activities focused on wellbeing and sustainability awareness for students.
  • Community Projects: Supporting local communities through charity fundraising, building community projects, and partnerships with organisations like its dedicated charity partner, Young Minds.
  • Supporting Local & SME Supply Chain: £1.196 million spent on supporting local and regional communities through a diverse supply chain.

Fiona Martin, Managing Director of Education and Healthcare at Aramark UK expressed pride in the team’s accomplishments: “I’m really pleased with the sheer determination and progress we have made to make a difference within our communities. This achievement has been possible due to the entire team’s support. I have big ambitions for how we will build on this benchmark with our partnership with Young Minds and other initiatives planned this year and beyond.”
