Digital investments provide substantial Christmas benefits for Greene King

Greene King saw a 30% increase in online Christmas Day bookings in its Managed Pubs versus last year, with a 13% increase in the month of December, as customers took advantage of Greene King’s new digital capabilities.

With 45 million customers visiting Greene King’s websites annually, the company has delivered a multimillion-pound investment which has transformed its online presence. Customers can now go online to find their nearest managed Greene King pub within seconds regardless of which brand it is – and make bookings in a matter of minutes – making the experience quicker and easier than ever before.

Improving customer experience and creating a seamless booking process is central to Greene King’s digital investment, which has included the launch of a new award-winning web platform, data capability and a new app, that despite still being in its pilot phase, has been downloaded by 2.5 million users.

In December, Greene King also achieved its best ever customer ratings, with each of the company’s divisions scoring a 4.5 (out of 5) or over, as the pub company also increased its market share during the month as more people chose to visit a Greene King pub.

Clair Preston-Beer, COO of Greene King said: “45 million people visit one of our websites every year, and so investment in our digital capability to address this customer base has been a key part of our strategic transformation. It’s therefore brilliant to see the tangible benefit of this investment in such an increase in online booking numbers during our important Christmas trading period.

“We are also delighted to have achieved our best ever customer experience scores in December, which is also encouraging more people to visit our pubs and is testament to the incredible work that our teams do up and down the country.”

This phase of the company’s investment programme follows the roll out of super-fast, state-of-the-art internet across Greene King’s managed pub estate and support centres, which has given customers and team members access to fast download speeds with uninterrupted connectivity.
