Following the successful arrival of its first international outpost in West London’s Portobello Road, Trejo’s Tacos has added to its menu to bring even more Hollywood heritage to London diners. The expansive new food and cocktail menu, available in the restaurant or through Deliveroo, coincides with the official launch of its revamped underground speakeasy, The Machete Bar.
Famed for its unique ‘Cal-Mex’ cuisine, fusing traditional Mexican fare with a Californian twist, a total of 15 new dishes, including vegan options, will be added to the menu, all crafted from fresh, clean, and locally sourced ingredients.
Alongside its existing favourites, the taco menu will now include a beef barbacoa taco, served with pico de gallo, tortilla strips and cotija cheese, a vegan young jackfruit taco, served with avocado crema, pico de gallo verde slaw and tortilla strips, a fried chicken taco, served in a lettuce cup, and an unmissable cheeseburger taco comprising burger, nacho cheese, red onion, cilantro, cherry tomato and bacon.
The popular burrito menu has significantly expanded with a further six dishes to mirror taco-favourites. Additions include the beef barbacoa burrito, grilled chicken burrito, spicy shrimp burrito, carnitas burrito, vegan young jackfruit and vegan mushroom asada burrito. The substantial bowl food menu, all served with rice and cheese, has also diversified to include a chili con carne bowl, beef barbacoa bowl and vegan young jackfruit bowl. A brand-new fish and chips dish has been added to the children’s menu and a winter-warming tortilla soup bowl, blended from chicken, dried chile broth, avocado and corn and served with tortilla chips and cheese, makes its debut.
As one of West London’s most popular drinking spots, famed for its sublime tequila and mezcal-based margaritas, the cocktail menu has also expanded with a further 10 unmissable new additions. Headline debuts include the lavender punch, crafted from dark rum, fresh lime juice, cassis and lavender, cocoloco, with coconut tequila, cacao, lime and egg white, red flamingo, with ojo de dioa hibiscus, hot honey, lime and grapefruit soda, old fiction, with monkey shoulder, banana liqueur and salted caramel and gingersnap, with mezcal, kaveri ginger liqueur, green chartreuse, lime and agave. Zero-proof tequila alternatives remain a popular staple, using Danny Trejo’s in-house brand of ‘Trejo’s Spirits’, crafted from a blend of essences, extracts, and distillates from around the world.
As the UK’s flagship restaurant and concept showcase, Trejo’s Tacos London’s two-storey venue also houses an underground speakeasy, regularly featuring DJs for the after-dinner crowds. Working with local West London artist, Jose Rodriguez, this has been transformed to create ‘The Machete Bar’, in homage to one of Danny Trejo’s most iconic movies. The sumptuous Aztec temple themed space comprises low lighting, curtained booths and low-slung seating and tables to create intimate and relaxed snug areas. Featuring bespoke sculptures, hand carved and painted candles as well as mural references to Danny Trejo’s best loved movies, the versatile space includes custom-made furniture that can be rearranged to cater for large private dinner parties and events. With a state-of-the-art sound system and opulent cocktail bar, The Machete Bar is the ultimate escape to relax and unwind this winter.
Co-CEO of Trejo’s Tacos UK, Jerome Armit, said: “It’s been an incredible seven months since opening and we’ve been lucky enough to establish a loyal customer base from far and wide. We’re super excited to bring yet more delicious smash-hit dishes from the LA menu and, together with the new cocktail offering and Machete bar, we hope to continue the celebration.”
