Red Snapper Learning Supports Prime Minister’s Initiative to Combat Violence Against Women and Girls with Targeted Training for Night-Time Economy Workers.
Red Snapper Learning (RSL) is proud to support the Prime Minister’s personal commitment to halving violence against women and girls. Through a nationwide training initiative, RSL is empowering night-time economy staff to play a vital role in crime prevention, victim support, and community safety.
On Monday, 25th November, the Prime Minister convened police chiefs, industry leaders, and transport officials to underscore the government’s commitment to tackling violence against women and girls. A key element of this mission includes plans to make spiking a specific criminal offence and fostering coordinated action across police forces, transport networks, and venues to combat this heinous crime.
Empowering the Night-Time Economy
As part of this drive, RSL will deliver essential training for free to thousands of bar, club, and hospitality staff across the UK. Starting with a pilot programme in December, the initiative will expand to reach up to 10,000 workers nationwide by spring 2025.
The training is designed to provide night-time economy staff with the skills to:
- Prevent spiking incidents.
- Support victims with empathy and care.
- Assist police in gathering evidence to enable successful prosecutions.
Dipti Mouj, RSL’s Head of Safeguarding Training, highlighted the importance of this programme:
“This is an incredibly important project for RSL. Working directly with night-time economy workers to combat spiking is a sensible ‘front line’ crime prevention strategy. Our training will be engaging, practical, and empowering, giving workers the knowledge and confidence to act decisively.”
Leading the Way in Crime Prevention Training
RSL’s expertise in delivering specialist training solutions ensures that staff across the hospitality sector are well-prepared to create safer venues and contribute to the government’s broader mission to make streets and public spaces safer for everyone. By collaborating closely with the Home Office, RSL is at the forefront of equipping workers with practical tools to combat spiking and violence against women.
Why Training Matters
Spiking incidents have garnered increasing media attention, raising public concerns about safety in nightlife venues. This training equips venue staff with the tools to address these concerns, making their spaces safer for everyone while demonstrating a commitment to compliance and community welfare.
