Henley pub welcomes three new colleagues ahead of December opening.
The much-anticipated opening of The Duke, a vibrant new addition to Henley’s hospitality scene located on the corner of Duke Street and Greys Road, is set to elevate the town’s dining and social offering. With a focus on modern British cuisine infused with Asian influences, and a welcoming community ethos, The Duke, from The Henley Pub Co stable, is thrilled to announce three key appointments to its opening team.
Adam Hague joins as Head Chef, bringing a wealth of experience from Michelin-starred and Rosette-awarded establishments across the UK. His impressive accolades include earning a Michelin Bib Gourmand and two Rosettes at The White Oak in Cookham and being recognized as Estrella’s Top 50 One to Watch in 2021.
“The food at The Duke will centre on small plates designed for sharing—or not, if you prefer!” says Adam. “With fire and smoke as our inspiration, we’re crafting a menu of modern British dishes, lightly touched by Asian influences, that reflects both innovation and tradition.”
Jason Herrington and James Connelly take the helm as Co-General Managers, each bringing a wealth of local and professional experience to the team.
Jason, a proud Henley native, has over nine years of hospitality experience, including managing renowned local restaurants. His passion for creating inclusive, welcoming spaces is matched by his expertise in opening new venues and building strong teams, even in challenging times. “Henley has always been my home, and I’m thrilled to contribute to a project that will bring something truly special to the community,” says Jason.
James, an accomplished beverage program curator and operations expert, adds his flair to the The Duke’s vision. With a career, spanning management roles at establishments like Sika Inns and The Stag and Huntsman, James has honed skills in sustainable beverage development, premium wine curation, and operational excellence.
“At The Duke, I’ll be leading the beverage program, crafting an innovative and sustainable drinks menu that highlights British-made spirits, craft beers, and fine wines. Our focus is on local and seasonal ingredients, ensuring a menu that complements our food and champions sustainability,” James shares. Together, Jason and James will split managerial responsibilities, ensuring that The Duke delivers outstanding service, a warm atmosphere, and unforgettable experiences.
Opening this December, The Duke promises to be a hub for locals and visitors alike, combining exceptional food, carefully curated drinks, and a welcoming environment that embodies the spirit of Henley-on-Thames.
