Exclusive Collection, the UK’s first hotel company to achieve B Corp certification, has released its latest Impact Report detailing the group’s actions, initiatives and outcomes from 2023-2024.
Three years since certification, the company continues to make significant contributions to the environment and its local communities through purposeful use of its heritage country house estates.
Exclusive Collection is dedicated to a zero waste to landfill policy and, where possible, grows its own produce on its 691-acres of grounds and estate land. Committed to carbon reduction and environmental sustainability, the family-owned company persists in encouraging its supply chain to also adopt a conscientious approach to business. And, as well as focusing on the development of its 850-strong team, Exclusive Collection is deeply involved in local communities, with each hotel raising funds for regional charities as well as a group-wide commitment to three preferred charities.
Key outcomes for 2023-24 include:
- Leftover food from events was redistributed to local communities and projects, saving 6,257kg of edible food, feeding 486 households with 14,510 meals, avoiding 26,283kg of carbon emissions.
- The development of new luxury accommodation – The Reeds at South Lodge – which draws on biophilic design principles, not only in the lodges, but in the surrounding habitat too.
- Spends with fellow B Corps now exceed £1.5m per annum.
- £105,965 shared between Hospitality Action, Protect Earth and Buglife as well as local hotel charities.
- Effective energy consumption has helped reduce the collection’s energy usage by 3% annually.
- Promotion of female talent with Stephanie Hall, group sales & marketing director, joining the board to help oversee the management, strategy and governance of the organisation.
- Recognising generational diversity and digital growth, the company’s digital transformation includes new HR, rostering, payroll software, and AI systems.
Danny Pecorelli, managing director of Exclusive Collection commented: “When we became a B Corp we partnered with Land App to understand each estate and how we could use our grounds as an opportunity to remove carbon dioxide and improve biodiversity. We’re now exploiting this data to plan our legacy on each estate while building on other initiatives to help us improve, evaluate and evolve.
“Going forward, we are outlining four key focus areas: reducing water consumption by 3%, becoming carbon positive on scope 1 and 2 by 2026, improving biodiversity metrics, and enhancing our employee value proposition. These significant goals are underwritten in our Articles of Association at Companies House.
“Our wonderful hotel teams have achieved so much in the past year. Everyone’s ideas and commitment to using our business as a force for good create a unique culture where every voice and suggestion make a collective impact, bringing positive change to the hospitality sector and wider society.”
