Harrods Dining Hall welcomes Dim Sum by China Tang

Nearly two decades after opening its doors at The Dorchester, Cantonese restaurant China Tang has launched Dim Sum by China Tang in Harrods Dining Hall.

Dim Sum by China Tang presents a carefully curated selection of 14 savoury and two sweet dim sum variations. These include exquisite flavours such as scallop dumplings topped with caviar, truffle and shiitake mushroom bao, Iberico pork xiao long bao, Wagyu taro puffs, and the ever-popular chicken dumplings in spicy sauce. Standout options include roast duck and stir-fried A5 Wagyu beef in black pepper, both signature favourites from the original Park Lane restaurant.

The interior design of Dim Sum by China Tang at Harrods seamlessly integrates with the historic charm of the Harrods Dining Hall. The existing Art Deco features of the Hall naturally align with the China Tang brand, creating a cohesive link to its renowned sister restaurant at The Dorchester. The space exudes a sense of timeless elegance, offering a refined yet inviting atmosphere that perfectly complements the authentic Cantonese cuisine.

At the helm of Dim Sum by China Tang’s kitchen is Head Chef James Xia, who brings over 30 years of culinary expertise in Cantonese cuisine, honed at prestigious restaurants across London.

With a background that spans across some of the finest restaurants, including a senior role at Le Chinois in Knightsbridge, Chef Xia has mastered the art of balancing traditional Cantonese flavours with contemporary refinement.

Alongside him is Chef He, China Tang’s Dim Sum master, who has been with China Tang at The Dorchester since 2019. Chef He, renowned for his meticulous approach, oversees the creation of the delicate dim sum that is made fresh daily for both the Park Lane restaurant and Harrods.

Commenting on the new opening, Nathalie Ford, VP Europe and Middle East for China Tang, shared: “We are thrilled to bring Dim Sum by China Tang to Harrods in what marks the beginning of an exciting five-year partnership. It is a significant new chapter for the brand, allowing us to offer guests an elevated dim sum experience in one of the world’s most iconic dining locations. This collaboration embodies our commitment to partnering with the best of the best, and we are especially grateful to Ford Consultancy for facilitating this deal. We look forward to welcoming both loyal patrons and new diners to experience China Tang in this extraordinary setting.”

Located on the ground floor of Harrods in the Dining Hall, with 25 covers, Dim Sum by China Tang provides a refined yet contemporary setting for guests to enjoy its signature dishes. Alongside the dim sum, diners can also savour a range of fine wines, premium teas such as Iron Goddess, and tea-based cocktails and mocktails, like the refreshing Tang Tea Punch.
