The Kitchen Porters Club Kitchen Porter of the Month for August is Tom Farnsworth, Kitchen Porter at The Old Crown Coaching Inn. The Inn is located within the historic market town of Faringdon on the edge of the Cotswolds midway between Oxford and Swindon.
Head Chef Samuel Squires nominated his colleague saying: “Tom is an absolute powerhouse in the kitchen, always giving his all and never shying away from any task. He’s the heart and soul of the place, constantly on the move and keeping everything clean and running smoothly. Tom’s a great guy who works incredibly hard, and he definitely deserves some recognition for everything he does.”
An official Kitchen Porters Club apron is now on its way to Tom, to wear with pride as a member of the Kitchen Porters Club.
The Kitchen Porters Club was established just over a decade ago to recognise and celebrate the incredible contribution made by kitchen porters in commercial kitchens across the UK.
In September 2023, the Kitchen Porters Club created their Kitchen Porter of the Month award, which now one year on has been awarded to eighteen Kitchen Porters.
The growing popularity of the Kitchen Porters Club highlights the esteem in which kitchen porters are held, evidenced recently through the prestigious award, Kitchen Porter of the Month. Winners include talented Kitchen Porters from Jersey to York, across all sectors of our industry.
Paul Anderson, Managing Director of Meiko UK, sponsors of the Kitchen Porters Club speaking of August’s award told us: “I am delighted with what has been achieved in just one year, eighteen kitchen porters have been recognised as vital members of kitchen brigades, up and down the country, across every sector of our great industry. I welcome Tom Farnsworth as the latest addition to that group of remarkable people serving our industry.”
