Ben Murphy has announced that he will be leaving Launceston Place in London, having given a 3-month notice to owners D&D. This means that his official last day at the Kensington restaurant will be 31 October 2024.
While Ben currently has no definite plans for his next role, he is looking at a number of options, and will announce any decision as soon as possible.
Ben joined Launceston Place as head chef in 2017. His cooking career began at Koffmann’s at The Berkeley with Pierre Koffmann (2010-13), where he advanced from Commis Chef to Sous Chef. He then moved to France to Michel Guérard’s Michelin three-starred Les Prés d’Eugénie (2013-14), then to Epicure at Le Bristol in Paris (2015). Returning to London he was appointed Sous Chef at Michelin two-starred The Greenhouse in Mayfair (2015), followed by his first Head Chef role at The Woodford in east London (2015-16).
Numerous accolades have been awarded over his cooking career to date, including ‘National Chef of the Year 2022’ by the Craft Guild of Chefs, as well as ‘Chef to Watch’ (Good Food Guide), and ‘Breakthrough Chef of the Year’ (Food & Travel Magazine). Launceston Place has also maintained three AA Rosettes since 2021.
