For the independent hotel sector, it’s a time for innovation as in November 2024 up to 150 independent hoteliers and suppliers come together as a community at The Good Hotel Guide Live, launched in partnership with Scrumptious Marketing and Events. Their goal is to collaborate, share insights and best practice and collectively source solutions to their unique challenges.
The hospitality industry has had a well-documented rough ride in recent years, and the landscape means business owners must innovate to survive and thrive. Advances in technology, inflation and rising costs, fluctuating customer demand, talent gaps and environmental considerations are just some of the daily challenges facing business owners.
When these issues are discussed in the hospitality industry, the needs of niche industry sectors can be misunderstood, meaning that insights and solutions are too generic to be workable. The Good Hotel Guide Live seeks to address this for the independent hotel sector.
Independent Innovators Come Together
The independent hotel sector is diverse and inspiring. Its business leaders create some of the most outstanding guest experiences in the world and they are particularly drawn to innovations and solutions. The nature of their work means they rarely get the chance to gather and share best practice with like-minded owners and suppliers – and so The Good Hotel Guide Live was born.
The event will be hosted at The Barnsdale, Rutland on November 12th, 2024. A full day of interactive sessions will be followed by a relaxed awards evening, providing a rare chance for independent hoteliers and their suppliers to form new connections over dinner, and applaud the leading lights in their sector.
Introducing The Good Hotel Guide Live, Chief Executive Richard Fraiman said: “The Good Hotel Guide Live provides a uniquely collaborative learning and networking experience for independent hoteliers in the UK. This inspiring, informative day is focused on innovative solutions, shared experience, and forging valuable connections within our community of hoteliers and suppliers. It provides a rare opportunity for like-minded independent hoteliers to learn from and support each other, an approach which is crucial for business success.”
Business Leaders Set the Agenda
Through their responses to pre-event research, the independent hotel community has set the agenda for The Good Hotel Guide Live, ensuring the event focuses on issues they most want to explore.
Key session themes include harnessing digital marketing; embracing new technology; reducing environmental impact; benchmarking occupancy rates and RevPAR and boosting talent attraction.
Independent hoteliers also want to hear from suppliers who offer solutions to meet their most pressing needs, including energy saving, cost reduction, sustainability and technology that enables operational efficiency. Bramley Products, Gusbourne and Johnsons Stalbridge Linen Company are among those already committed to the event and further opportunities are available for relevant suppliers.
Empowering Independent Hoteliers
At its core, The Good Hotel Guide Live is about bringing together the independent hotel community and selected suppliers to drive growth. By fostering connections, encouraging dialogue, and celebrating innovation, this event aims to empower independent hoteliers to thrive in a competitive landscape.
Looking forward to their attendance of the event, Advisory Board member Dan Brod, The Beckford Group said: “The independent hotel space can be a lonely one to operate in, but there is so much to gain through collaboration as we all have much in common. The Good Hotel Guide Live offers what I feel is a transformative approach – a place for like-minded professionals to meet each other, exchange ideas, and find new solutions together.”
