We are delighted to report another busy month at the Kitchen Porters Club, examining entries for their Kitchen Porter of the Month competition. As always, in what has become a sought after accolade entries were received from across the UK, with most sectors of our industry well represented.
Following careful consideration by the judges, head of the judging panel Meiko UK managing director, Paul Anderson decided the June Kitchen Porter of the Month award would go to two entries:
Lutumba Mampasi, Kitchen Porter at The Bloomsbury Hotel.
Antho Bomengo, Kitchen Porter at Genuine Restaurants – Sam’s Riverside.
Meiko’s Paul Anderson told us: “It’s an interesting process reviewing the entries every month as they are considered and reflect comradery. Most who work in our industry, and that might be all in back of house roles, know just how vital every kitchen porter is. Taking a few minutes out to nominate a kitchen porter colleague for an award however requires action, not much admittedly, but it does require action.
“We seem to be getting more and more nominations from well-known successful businesses, you only need to look back at recent results to see that.
“The nomination itself reflects a deep appreciation from colleagues who value the vital role every team member plays. By nominating their Kitchen Porter, the team leader is demonstrating a profound respect for all their people.
“It is no surprise therefore that most of the nominations we receive are from brands we all know.”
