Catrianna Di Muzio’s journey in the hospitality industry is a story of dedication and passion for excellence. During her time at UWTSD studying for a BA in International Hotel Management, she embarked on exciting placement opportunities at the Marriott in Malta and at the prestigious Garrick Club in London. Known for its rich history and exclusive membership, the Garrick Club offered Catrianna invaluable experience in guest relations and hospitality management, further refining her professional skills.
After graduating with First Class Honours in December 2023, Catrianna’s outstanding performance at Marriott and the Garrick led to her recruitment into the esteemed Marriott Voyage Graduate Leadership Development Programme.
This elite programme is designed to fast-track high-potential graduates into leadership roles, providing Catrianna from Neath, with an immersive, hands-on training experience across various departments over 12-18 months.
Now, as a Rooms Voyager at the Cardiff Marriott, Catrianna continues to thrive, embodying the Marriott commitment to service excellence and leadership.
Speaking of here hospitality experiences Catrianna said: “My love for hospitality has developed over my years growing up within my family business but I didn’t realise how many opportunities were available to me and how vast the industry was until I joined UWTSD.
“Being part of the course opened me up to so many possibilities even from my first year at level 4 where I was able to secure a summer job in West Wales with the assistance of the university.
“Following on from that I’ve had two amazing placements both in the Marriott Malta and The Garrick Club in London which helped me to develop my skillset and the foundations I’d been building throughout my course.
“At present I am working through my post graduate course with the Marriott Voyager Programme which offers even more room for development and expansion.
“The continued support I’ve received both throughout my time at university and beyond have been integral to my career success and I’m extremely grateful to everyone that has been part of my journey so far.”
Programme Manager Lola Villard-Coles reflected: “Catrianna’s journey is a testament to her relentless pursuit of growth, learning, and passion for hospitality, marking her as a rising star in the industry.
“Catrianna exemplifies the qualities we strive to instil in our students: dedication, passion, and a commitment to excellence. Her impressive journey through prestigious placements, followed by her success in the Marriott Voyage Graduate Leadership Development Program, highlights her remarkable talent and hard work. We are incredibly proud of her achievements and confident that she will continue to make significant contributions to the hospitality industry.”
Dr Jayne Griffith-Parry, Academic Director, added: “Catrianna showed the dedication and commitment to her studies from level 4, and this is what is needed to be the best hospitality professional. This has not only been recognised by those who have taught her but during her time at The Garrick and now by Marriott International as a voyager.
“I am certain we will hear great things about Catrianna’s career in the future.”
