The Dorchester opens Cake & Flowers

The Dorchester has launched an entirely new offering, Cake & Flowers, dedicated to showcasing stunning patisserie and floristry, with its own entrance on the Deanery Street corner of the hotel.

The visionaries behind the Cake & Flowers boutique are The Dorchester’s in-house designer florist Philip Hammond and executive pastry chef Michael Kwan.

Jewel-like interiors by Paris-based designer Pierre-Yves Rochon inspire joie de vivre, with mirrors, marble counters and mosaic floors creating an atmosphere of gilded elegance and discerning opulence.

Feature windows come alive with captivating masterpieces that showcase the passion and mastery of The Dorchester designed for guests to take creations directly from the display.

Within, shelves and cases are filled with delights, signature cakes to take away in chic packaging, uniquely presented gift hampers, floral bouquets and a selection of champagnes and artisan chocolates.

Philip Hammond has been responsible for the hotel’s breath-taking floral arrangements since 2010 and was behind the creation of the hotel’s signature rose variety, The Dorchester Rose. Philip’s bespoke, hand-crafted bouquets and floral masterpieces are available for purchase at Cake & Flowers and are also available for pre-order collection and delivery. The boutique’s products are also available online for delivery in central London.

Michael Kwan joined the team in January 2022 with his trademark award-winning style, focusing on delicate yet vibrant cake designs. Menu highlights include Michael’s take on The Dorchester Rose, a dazzling cake to match the signature rose and jasmine cream, compressed pear and coconut crunch, alongside a citrus and orange Blossom Pavlova, with yuzu and bergamot meringue, citrus compote, orange blossom cream and confit citrus.

Michael’s signature cake, The Tree Cake, will change seasonally and include flavours such as cherry blossom tea mousse and sour cherry.

Perfectly situated in the heart of London since 1931, The Dorchester stands tall in Mayfair with Hyde Park on its doorstep. The hotel opened Cake & Flowers on Thursday March 23, and further details are available here.
