Pub group Young’s have announced the opening of a new wine bar in the heart of the city, The Bishop’s Vaults.
Located on Swedeland Court in Bishopsgate, behind fellow Young’s pub Dirty Dicks, and set across two floors, comprising of a 50-cover ground-floor bar, with a further 100-covers in the basement.
Previously Boisdale of Bishopsgate, the space has been transformed into a wine bar offering a premium wine list, along with a selection of cheese and charcuterie plates, sourced from British suppliers.
The once underground cellar is now a speakeasy-style bar designed to create an intimate hideaway with dimmed lighting and a deep blue and orange palette, whilst also paying homage to its history with original features. Design highlights include exposed brick walls featuring an eclectic mix of artwork, a long statement marble bar with brass detailing and arched doorways, while the old vaults have been converted into booths with leather seating.
Taking a different direction from the pubs, the menu showcases a list of wines from across the globe, including hidden reserves such as the Italian Masi Amarone and Ferraton Condrieu from France, along with a list of champagne and sparkling wines. There is also a selection of classic cocktails.
