JAZZ™ Apples teams up with Star Chef Mark Aisthorpe to Stop Apple Wastage
JAZZ™ Apples have teamed up with Mark Aisthorpe – one of the rising culinary stars in the UK – to showcase how consumers can turn everyday ingredients into moreish masterpieces and cut down on their kitchen wastage.
Mark’s JAZZ™ Apple inspired line-up to help you be more sustainable in your kitchen and ensure every apple you buy is devoured includes:
- Crispy Pig Jowl, Burnt JAZZ™ Apple Puree
- Vegan Bao Buns loaded with BBQ Oyster mushrooms and JAZZ™ Apple Slaw
- Salt Baked Beetroot, JAZZ™ Apple, Walnuts, Goat’s Cheese & Honey
- Braised Pork Belly & JAZZ™ Apple Sauce
- Baked JAZZ™ Apple Pie with Custard
Mark Aisthorpe commented: “I have always been a huge lover of apples and a JAZZ™ really is as good as it gets. Fantastically crisp, juicy and sweet – the special crunch and flavour profile also make them a great ingredient to elevate recipes. With a huge amount of apples wasted every day, we all need to make sure we utilise them to their max, especially during the British season. Hopefully these affordable recipes can inspire people to make the most of their apples and ensure they don’t get left to rot in the fruit bowl.”
After honing his skills in 1 and 2 Michelin star restaurants and hotels, star chef Mark Aisthorpe took over The Bulls Head in Holymoorside in 2016. In that time, he has transformed it from a struggling boozer that had seen five different owners in five years into a flourishing business with real charm and a growing reputation for exquisite food and rooms.
A chef who has had to overcome real adversity throughout his life, Mark has cystic fibrosis and if that hadn’t made things tough enough, as a 17-year-old he was offered a drug that could help his condition. The catch was there was a 1-in-20,000 chance of partial deafness and Mark ended up being that unlucky 1. Not one to mope around, Mark dusted himself down, taught himself how to lipread and continued to forge ahead with his passion for food and fine dining.
Now helping to put the quaint village of Holymoorside in the heart of the Peak District on the foodie map, The Bulls Head won two AA Rosettes and 5AA stars for its new accommodation in November 2022. With Mark featuring and becoming a regional finalist in the 17th series of the Great British Menu, a Michelin star is the next target for the business.
