The Gold Service Scholarship – with Patronage from Her Majesty The Queen – not only rewards service excellence, but also celebrates the vital role that service plays in the broad hospitality sector.
Marking its 11th anniversary, the 2023 awards will culminate with the Final presentation of the new Scholar in February 2023. Leading to that event, the competition’s key diary dates kick off with the announcement that the application process and a call for prospective candidates to submit.
The 2023 competition will open on Monday, 5th September 2022, and will close on Monday, 3rd October 2022. The Quarter Finals will take place at the end of October, the Semi-Final in late November, and the Final in mid-January 2023, with the Awards Ceremony in mid-February 2023.
Trustee and Chairman of the Judges Edward Griffiths commented: “So many challenges face the hospitality industry at the moment, so it is vital that we play our part in recognising and mentoring young professionals as they embrace their chosen career path. The Gold Service Scholarship takes its role very seriously as it nurtures and prepares this next generation of industry leaders.”
Over the last decade, candidates and eventual Scholars, have come from hugely diverse hospitality backgrounds – including five-star luxury hotels and Michelin-starred restaurants, large events companies, Royal palaces, and football stadium catering sites. Each one of these young front-of-house contenders (aged 22-28 to qualify for the competition) has focused goals – to improve their skills set, to progress in their career, to learn from senior industry leaders, and to network with like-minded aspiring professionals.
