By Majella Taylor, New Openings Editor, H&C News: Getting Creative with Campo Viejo.
Let’s get straight to the point, I’ve never been to a wine tasting event like this. An artistic collaboration in a space in Fitzrovia, organised by uber cool Hoxton Agency Talker Tailer Trouble Maker to promote the gorgeous new Campo Viejo Winemakers’ Blend.
The Summer weather had finally hit London, so on I arrival I reluctantly (I loathe Sangria) choose the cocktail over a glass of wine but instantly did not regret my decision.
The vibrant new Campo Viejo blend was key ingredient in the welcome cocktail, the Kalimotxo, my new-found now-favourite cocktail, which I will quite certainly be enjoying over the Summer, and impressing guests with.
Accompanied with some Spanish meats, I already knew this was going to be a great event.
What’s different about this blend?
The Winemakers’ blend is a collaboration of the three of its female winemakers Elena Suarez, Irene Perez and Elena Adell. The result is a fun, expressive blend, fruity on the nose but surprisingly deep with a light smoke on the palate.
What’s different about this bottle?
This Limited Edition bottle label was designed by Madrid-based, world-renowned graffiti artists Boa Mistura. The term “Boa Mistura” comes from the Portuguese “Good Mix”, and refers to the diversity of formations and points of view of each of the team.
Boa Mistura took some time out to talk to the guests about their creativity process, which involved drinking plenty of wine at the Campo Viejo vineyard. The end result was #Pasion on the outside that compliments the #Pasion inside of the bottle.
The specially designed label is their artistic interpretation of not just the end product but the process that goes into the wine and the people behind it.
Cheers! Now it’s time to get creative.
With the wine and the creative juices now flowing, the guests headed to the back of the room already laid out with canvas, specially-designed aprons and an assortment of media; pens, paints and spray paint.
After a quick masterclass by Spanish Artist Elena González @elnoart, the guests were keen to get artistic. Their assignment – ‘Paint your #Pasion about wine’.
This was definitely a launch with a difference. One that will be remembered and captured through creativity. It brought people together and it made people smile.
There’s already a couple of bottles of the Campo Viejo Winemakers’ Blend on my shopping list and I don’t think the other guests will forget the wine in the hurry.
Kudos to Campo Viejo UK & TTTM for doing something different.
