One of the main benefits of joining a professional membership body is the camaraderie that comes from feeling part of it. Being listened to, and seeing your ideas acted upon is another.
Chief Executive of the Institute of Hospitality, Robert Richardson FIH is a champion of giving members a voice, and was given the opportunity of doing just that the other day. A member wanted to join the Institute of Hospitality’s golf day and being unable to bring a team of four asked if he could book an individual place and join a team.
Richardson immediately embraced the idea and as such individual bookings, two’s, three’s and of course teams of four players are now open. With eleven teams already confirmed spaces however are limited.
Commenting on the idea Richardson told us: “The focus of the day is to raise much needed funds for the Institute of Hospitality Youth Council.
“But equally important is that no member, or hospitality person who is not a member, feels unable to join the day because they can’t put a full team together. In many ways welcoming individuals who will join a team with their peers in hospitality is ideal, we want people to not only enjoy the day, and the dinner in the evening, but also to meet and make new friends in hospitality.”
The Institute of Hospitality Golf Day, in association with Caterer.com takes place at The Belfry on Thursday 19th May. An individual player place, including a sumptuous three course dinner in the evening costs just £250 + VAT. There is also an auction after dinner where some amazing items have been donated by members of the Institute of Hospitality.
