Gordon Ramsay sets brand course for South Korea

Gordon Ramsay Restaurants announce long-term partnership deal to bring multiple Gordon Ramsay Restaurant Brands to South Korea.

Under the deal, the newly formed strategic partnership of Jin Kyoung C.Ltd, and Gordon Ramsay’s restaurant group, outlined plans to deliver numerous dining outlets across South Korea in the next 10 years, starting with the first Gordon Ramsay Burger slated for launch December 2021 in Seoul’s incredible Lotte World Mall.

Situated in the Songpa District, South of the Han River in Southeast Seoul, the Lotte World Mall is a premium lifestyle destination for locals and tourists. With a variety of attractions, a global fashion hub and an array of cuisines it truly fulfils the diverse needs of the domestic market and international visitors.

Gordon Ramsay said: “I absolutely love the time I spend in Asia. Seoul is so vibrant, and the dining scene is incredibly exciting. Korea is at the forefront of a very cool culinary movement where traditional delicacies and modern gastronomy meet Michelin starred cooking and sit side by side with the iconic street food dishes of fried chicken and Kimbap. It’s an amazing and an inspiring place to eat out. We have so many ideas to bring to life through this new partnership with the team at JK, and I cannot wait to get going.”

Andy Wenlock, CEO Gordon Ramsay Restaurants added: “To combine JK Co’s local teams’ success and expertise with our own culinary capability, creates the opportunity for a highly innovative dining experience. Food is such an important part of how we connect and communicate and as a business we are excited about the future possibilities of this joint venture in this new market.”

Gordon Ramsay’s Gordon Ramsay Burger opened its first site in Las Vegas nearly a decade ago, with a second site opening in London’s leading luxury department store Harrods in 2020. The combination of Gordon Ramsay’s signature cooking style and the very best in locally sourced ingredients sets the stage for Gordon Ramsay Burger to satisfy all burger cravings. Stunningly crafted gourmet beef patties are cooked using prime cuts of meat and sit alongside an incredible array of flavorsome snacks and fries, including hellfire chicken wings, the ultimate truffle parmesan fries, secret sauces, and thick, silky shakes.

Kim Ok-sang, CEO of JK Co, predicts that the growth of the premium burger market in Korea will be hugely positive in the future.
“Gordon Ramsay Burger is based on the brand identity of the most British original hamburger along with a localization strategy that considers the taste of Koreans.
Michelin Star Gordon Ramsay’s unique menu and taste, differentiated service, and the best quality will be introduced to the Korean market.”

In addition, CEO Ok-sang Kim said, “Through partnership with Gordon Ramsay, JK Co will manualize all the key elements of the business, such as menu, taste, service, and operating system, and continue and inherit the brand’s unique values. We will gradually expand and lead the food service category into the Korean market,” he said.
