Fast-casual restaurant group Pitaya is set to launch in the UK this September in London’s Covent Garden.
Founded in Bordeaux, France in 2010 after Kadir Guglu fell in love with the street food culture of Bangkok, Pitaya, meaning dragon fruit, will now bring its authentic, colourful and creative cuisine to the UK.
Pitaya has over 150 locations in Europe with a further seven in countries including France, Belgium, Spain and Switzerland, plus ambitious development plans in Africa and Middle East, both company-owned and franchised, with many more worldwide openings planned in the coming months.
Seeing a gap in the market for fast-casual Thai food in the UK without compromising on excellent customer experience, Pitaya has partnered up with entrepreneur Medhi Rizvi to bring Pitaya to London. Cooked fresh to order on open fire, guests can watch as woks are heated and hit with fresh ingredients, transporting onlookers to the streets of Bangkok for a fully immersive sensory experience.
The menu at Pitaya features well balanced dishes made with fresh, healthy ingredients which arrive from wok to plate in minutes. Guests are welcomed to sample signature Pitaya dishes inspired by the street food in Bangkok such as Yellow Curry made with chicken, coconut milk red cabbage, bamboo shoots and Thai chives or Bo Bun Thai made with beef marinated in lemongrass stir fried in a wok with cold rice vermicelli, carrots, cucumbers, bean sprouts and aromatic herbs and fried onions. The menu will be affordably priced making Pitaya widely accessible.
Desserts will include passion fruit cheesecake verrine and a selection of sorbets and ice-creams including dragon fruit, Bulgarian yoghurt and lemon basil alongside a French classic with a twist, Macarons with flavour combinations including mango sticky rice, jasmine and lemongrass. A selection of soft drinks and alcoholic beverages will also be available.
The Covent Garden location will seat 108 inside and 10 people on their terrace on The Strand.
There are plans for expansion across the UK.
Pitaya Covent Garden opens on 3rd of September in Covent Garden for dine in, takeaway and delivery.
