Nottingham’s New York inspired bar, grill and live entertainment space, The Blind Rabbit is the first major venue to launch post-lockdown in the city centre.
The heritage building, which is brimming with original features, has sat empty since the closure of Belgian restaurant Belgo in June 2019. But now the flagship venue transports customers across the Atlantic, taking inspiration from the hustle and bustle of downtown New York and some of the US’s most iconic dive bars, burger joints and live entertainment venues.
Michael Johnson, operations director at The Blind Rabbit, said: “We are thrilled with the success of the launch of our newest venture in Nottingham’s Lace Market. It’s a beautiful building, spanning across three floors, where people can hang-out together as the colder months draw in, but it also boasts a fantastic outdoor space for people to enjoy in the summer.
“The Blind Rabbit is quickly becoming the go-to-place for everyone and features something new in a city that already offers so much variety. Outstanding food, drinks and service within the most causal of surroundings is what we’ve strived to deliver in our first month, with unique cocktails alongside Nottingham’s best burgers to complement that atmosphere.”
The 5,000sqft, three-storey, Victorian red brick building was designed by eminent Nottingham architect William Arthur Heazell in 1875 for W Cotton as offices and warehouse. Inside, however, it’s been brought into the present day with a street-inspired vibe, flashes of neon and bold coloured textures that ties in with the brand’s signature style.
Specialty cocktails designed by the people behind some of the city’s ‘impossible not to Instagram’ drinks creations is central to The Blind Rabbit offering – alongside old school American bar games & live entertainment.
Martyn Cooling, brand and marketing manager said: “We’re constantly working to improve everything we do, whether it be bringing bold new design to the city or challenging ourselves with exciting new food and drink offerings. We want our venues to be an experience for everyone who walks through the door. The Blind Rabbit delivers something entirely new for Nottingham, with its bold street art and graffiti walls to offer an iconic venue that the city can be proud of.”
