Earlier this afternoon a spokesperson for the prime minister has said that despite the challenges to business, the NHS Covid app will not be “tweaked” as one-third of those “pinged” go on to develop symptoms.
The ‘anonymous’ Downing Street spokesperson attributed the figures quoted to the Office for National Statistics as people are being warned not to ignore being told to self-isolate amid soaring numbers of those asked to do so. The announcement ignores the fact that hospitality and many other business sectors have been paralysed by the ‘pingdemic’.
