A poem, which captures the nation’s emotional attachment to the humble pint, was written in conjunction with Yorkshire dialect poet Ben Taylor, better known as Yorkshire Prose, has amassed over 180,000 views.
In response to the reaction, the Yorkshire brewery has launched a limited run of posters for sale through its online web shop, in support of Pub is the Hub, a not-for-profit organisation that works to support rural communities.
Simon Theakston, chairman of Pub is the Hub and joint managing director of T&R Theakston, said: “We launched the poem in recognition of how the pint has become a symbol of hope and recovery for many as we emerge out of lockdown. The response to ‘More Than Just A Pint’ has been incredible, and in recognition of this amazing support, we wanted to be able to give something back.”
“It seemed only fitting to donate the proceeds to Pub is the Hub as, not only is it very close to my heart, but it also plays a key role in ensuring that the pub remains at the very heart of the community.”
